Blur Survivor: 'Blur' | Beetlebum Wins

Postby Druid » Sat Aug 11, 2012 10:44 pm

You know the drill by now...

There's going to be seven initial threads. One for each album, one thread at a time. Once all the individual albums threads are over and done with, the winners from each album will move on to a final thread. It is there the champion Blur track shall be crowned.

Rules: Cast your vote for ONE track each round. You're voting for which track to LEAVE THE LIST not which track to stay on the list. You can only vote ONCE per round. You CANNOT change your vote. I'll end the round roughly every 2 days, unless there is a clear loser. In the event of ties, I'll make a post announcing there's a tie, and ask someone to vote for a track included in the tie (it has to be someone who hasn't already placed a vote in the round already) when someone makes a vote after that, i count that vote and that vote ONLY and consider the round over.

So, here we go, the 'Blur' (UK) tracklisting:

1. Beetlebum
2. Song 2
3. Country Sad Ballad Man
4. M.O.R.
5. On Your Own
6. Theme from Retro
7. You're So Great
8. Death of a Party
9. Chinese Bombs
10. I'm Just a Killer for Your Love
11. Look Inside America
12. Strange News from Another Star
13. Movin' On
14. Essex Dogs

(i decided that interlude wasn't worthy of it's own chance)

Somebody's gonna be outraged at this.
But keep in mind, I don't think there are any bad ones on this album.

I can't fault this album

M.O.R., cause it's a fairly poor Bowie rip off
they would compare her to lilies, and she had to go to parties, and london was so dreary

This ones goonna be bloomen difficult!

I honestly dont know. I'm going to tactical throughout this one but my vote is M.O.R. because, as already stated, its just a Bowie cover with different lyrics, kinda, tbh

Does Interlude count as part of Essex Dogs then?

i love M.O.R. especially the alan moulder mix, love the video, love the artwork, love the b-sides, one of my fave singles actually...

Beetlebum
a song outshone by its b-sides
way too long. and i always skip it

this is where it gets tough tho Blur and 13 are gonna be a nightmare

im sure all my favourites from this album will be gone early doors
and beetlebum vs you're so great will be the final

Yup. Weakest song on the album and one of the weakest singles of their career, honestly.
