^ thanks :)

Now here's something different. My wife wrote a song for a couple getting married and I arranged and mixed it. It's actually the third time we've worked this way, but in my opinion also the best one yet.

Not until I get my mic fixed. It's instrumental by the way and is basically just acoustic guitar and melodica.

Experimenting with new software, especially for vocals. I'm still working on getting the EQ right and the music is not final. Honest feedback is welcome.

Well, you know, you've grown up and I obviously haven't.

I was gonna say that with vocals I always use a high-pass eq, but then I took a listen and heard they're not really vocals. Did you use a vocal-synthesize plug-in and then put it through a vocoder? Why wouldn't you just sing it yourself?
On the 'vocals' you could use some more compression as well. Or even better, before you compres them do some volume automation, so that it always sits nicely on top of the mix.
I assume you didn't bother about bus-compression etc. But it's a good idea to use some compression on your stereo output already cause it will influence other mix-choices you make.

edit: almost forgot; nice tune!

It's me singing through a vocoder/synth that accepts midi. My natural voice is too weak, I was just experimenting. I'm still getting the feel of how to mix it in.

ah, ok. Vocoders can be tricky, but I really like how the sound fits with the rest of the song, so if you try to get it as clear and constant as possible I think it'll sound awesome. I have a vocoder in my mikrokorg, but I rarely ever use it. What I do know is that louder sound makes it sound nicer. So if you'd sing in a higher and constant volume it will also be easier to fit in the mix.

This is a test of mine trying to create something atmospheric and tranquil if that makes sense.

I'm probably buying a microkorg pretty soon. I've also seen a secondhand Korg M1 that I'm considering. Do you know much about snyths Alexander? I'm wondering if it's worth getting the M1 or not. It's pretty old, does that matter? What do you (or anyone else) think?

Here's a video of an M1.
As you can see it's got a very early-90's sound to it.
The MicroKORG is probably the better buy.
