Favourite album covers?

Postby nocultureicons » Mon Feb 01, 2010 10:41 pm

Self-explanatory really. Post pictures of your favourite album art. Discuss your favourite album art - what makes it great? Are there any albums you bought solely based on the cover? Here's a bunch of my favourites to start it off.

Explains the title, really.

It's ugly and beautiful at the same time. Weird.

Image
Mirrored. Yeah, that sums it up.

Image
Classic. Everbody looks glamourous and badass.

Orange art!

Image
Another classic.

Ridiculous.

Image
Innocent and gorgeous.

A banana?

Claustrophobic. This is how the purgatory looks like.

Is that person being abduced by aliens?

Robert Smith said he didn't like using a photo of himself. He finally caved and allowed the artist to use it.

Yeah, I'm rarely keen on album covers with the artist in question on it but this is a good one - also excused are The Beatles and Tori Amos' entire catalogue and The Blue Album by Weezer.

I knew this front cover before I even knew who the Strokes were, I think it's very memorable, better than their North American as well.

Is it from the 80's or the 90's or the 00's? I don't know, I like her polo though

If you glance at it in a shop you just think it's a nice little painting of a 16th century village but when you observe it it's actually quite disturbing. I've got a big picture for this one so you lot can see the disaster that's going on in this photo. It's actually a painting called 'Netherlandish Proverbs' by Dutch artist Pieter Bruegel the Elder.

I know the picture of the Fleet Foxes album cover. If you look closer, you'll see there's two asses coming out from a window.

If you look in under the porch that has the red there's a guy confessing to the Devil. You can't see it on the Fleet Foxes cover but there's also tarts on the roof > To have tarts on your roof means you're wealthy.

Here's the actual painting if anyone's interested:

No matter how disturbing it is... I'm falling in love with that painting!

you should buy the Fleet Foxes album, it's a lot better than that painting.

Honestly, I was tempted until I looked them up on Wikipedia... I'm not really into American indie pop/folk.

I remember listening to it and thinking the first songs were good, but after a while I got bored.
