Preview Gigs

Postby Jo Jackson » Fri Apr 17, 2009 9:45 am

Hello Guys,

I received an e-mail this morning at 09.16 saying that tickets to a preview gig at Goldsmiths were going on sale at 9am... realising 9am had passed I immediately followed the ticket master link only to discover they had already sold out!

I then tried to get tickets for the Colchester gig bt these had also already sold out

I myself am an ex- Goldsmiths student and a huge blur fan and am completely gutted! How come I got the e-mail quarter of an hour after tickets had already sold out?

is there anything I can do to get tickets now?

Sorry to burden you with this but I hope you can help!

sob!

There's not much to be done, from what you can read on the forum lots of other people have had the same problem...

Thanks but I'm just annoyed that I didn't even get the e-mail until 09.15... 15 minutes after tickets had been on sale!

From what's been said I don't think anyone got it bang on nine... I got it at 9.21 and it wouldn't let me buy two tickets but I managed to get one.

Well, had you read the threads you'd have seen most people didn't recieve emails until 9:15-9:21 (I specifically picked out that page)

I myself didn't get one as I didn't sign up lastnight specifically for these gigs (there was a tip-off lastnight) as the extra volum of people ob the list meant that there was never to be enough tickets for the amount of people on the maiing list....
But, that is why people were armed and ready at 9, not becasue they had the emails...

Most people got tickets through sheer stubbornness, refusing to go offline until they had tickets, refreshing the page constantly...

I've worked on alot of mailing lists in my time, and the software i use can take around an hour to send 5,000 emails. (because it has to loop through all the email addresses)

So if the mailer was sent out at 9am like promised, its possible that its on a cycle through and even though it was sent out at 9am, people lower on the list could recieve it an hour later.

This is just in my example though, I don't know how EMI works on mass emails.
I talk on twitter as well sometimes.
