I'll believe it after it happens

Postby dparrott » Wed Dec 10, 2008 9:53 pm

Though this is wonderful news, and I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but I can't count how many times we have been let down both by Damon and by "official announcements".

The "fan club gig with new songs and the FC CD of that gig" thing a few years ago never happened.

The new and better version of the BFC that was promoted never started and is in limbo, despite all of the Damon/Graham projects that were going on. (That's a lot of missed FC CD's to make up for....)

Those are just two of many. I love this news as much as the rest of you all, but I can't help being pessimistic at this point after all that we have gone through.

But if it does happen, I hope it's live on the internet too, it'll probably be a holiday in the US. And the FC can make a CD of it!

Well, a lot of people have parted with £45, so I think it's definitely happening... XD

Whoa! Did I just get pwned in pessimism?

Relax dude, the other times are in no comparison to this time.

The fan club gig a few years ago was cancelled the day before the gig. Another reason not to get hopes up.

And there are things called "refunds".

There is a big difference between a small club and a huge concert in Hyde Park.

This is quite a massive deal, not just a fan club gig, the news is everywhere, it's in the papers in France!

So they cancelled a gig and you're attempting to define their entire future career based on this?

I'm sure they hade very valid reasons for cancelling, and aren't the type to announce something like this if they weren't completely into the idea.....

I wasn't there for the whole fanclub gig thing; but was it a reunion gig, accompanied by audiovisual and textual interviews with all members ?

In the context of todays events, yes. In the context of the forums history, not even by far.

You're right, I am an idiot. I'm an idiot for thinking that all of Damon's statements and official announcements over the past 5 years were really going to happen.

Trust is a fragile thing.

Have we actually got any official announcement in the past 5 years? (apart from the fanclub gig thingy)
