I'm not surprised, it was a 50/50 situation whether they'd carry on or call it quits. I was really hoping for a new album sometime later, but knowing Damon and his ambitions, I'd say this sort of ending was to be expected. Too bad, too bad...

fuckin' hell, the first time iv'e read this articl i was so eager to found damon's words about blur that iv'e missed the funniest part in this article:

when they played goldsmiths, coxon says he celebrated afterwards by eating three pickled eggs covered in salt. and then sat there "blowing off".
"there was a queue of A list celebrities waiting to see us after goldsmiths."
says alex. "and we were just sitting there, farting. we couldnt handle any of it. it was just the four of us sitting there, shell- shocked, not really saying anything."

i have to tell you, i cant remember the last time i laughed so hard...
just thinking about this whole situation... the four of them, sitting in a room and...
oh god... leave it...

Me too! I'm not too 100% sure what they meant by 'blowing off' though... Shocked

and the only thing that came into my head while reading it was that i imagined the whole four of them like 4 little terrance and phillip farting on each other and gigglin'...
now im tellin' you, if someone here had a doubt about what this whole reunion was all about so there you go, it's about getting close to each other again. feel like brothers again. and when you feel the total liberty to fart in front of someone when you close to him...that's true friendship !

oh, man... you have no idea how hard im laughing right now.
im literally on the floor right now.
i think im about to choke.

If Damon means what he says, he will regret it many years from now...whatever the brainwashed minnions say on here, Gorillaz, Mali, Gtbtq etc will never be remembered like Blur, Blur was culture and life changing and still is!

Gorillaz??? its a couple of cds gathering dust....Good The Bad And The Whatever...a cd sold on ebay long ago...i mistook it for a really bad Blur demo...

I've followed Blur since 1992 and the music has been the soundtrack to my life, all the ups and downs, the good times and the bad, Damon is the man behind all this and to just toss it away after these 4 weeks...hmm hopefully he isnt really speaking his mind, like many people have said...right this is our final album/tour and we can put a full stop behind Blur, not a random festival gig.

One more album, no massive tour, just a month of gigs like they've just done...cant be that hard for such a prolific group of the 90s (tbh id rather burn than listen to yet another Gorillaz album of guest "rap" and "name" artists)

I just couldn't bring myself to read the whole thread, but IF this is true, then I'm heartbroken. Nothing has been and nothing will be as great musically as the whole band together. 1+1+1+1 is not 4.

Very sad, maybe predictable. Still, never say never.

Without this, it maybe would've been too good a summer :S

Nothing is too good to be true. And doesn't 1+1+1+1=4? But I get your point though.

forgive me for being among those who are supporting damon and his decision...
my moto in life is everyone should follow theire feelings and do whatever is right for them at the same moment.

i want to make something clear here:
i am heartbroken about this.
i admit, not like other people in here, im a new fan. i got into blur only 3.5 years ago. but in those 3.5 years i became so emotionaly attached to blur.
when my grandma was daying of cencer a year and a helf ago, slowly and painfuly for 4 months it was blur (and graham solo stuff...) that kept me sane.

my throat is choked from the idea that i'll never be able to see them live.

but some people here jump on damon without thinking first.
maybe there's stuff you dont know...

i want to remind you that they've never ever in the past 8 months said anything about a world tour or a new blur album for that metter.
i think that whole "new blur album" was an emotional reaction af the fans, which is pretty understandble, but was never confirmed.

so i dont understand why you all jump on damon...
he never "promised you a rose garden" sort of speak...

maybe it's just how he feels right now.
from what iv'e read in the articl he has a few projects he wants to concentrate on, so as graham....dave's going back to law school.
they all have other things that they're commited to right now.
just wait a year or two.
you've waited 7 years when everything looked so uncertain, so cant wait another year when you know the boys are so close to each other and everything is possible...???
