13 has always been the blur album I have considered a favourite, something that has only been confirmed after going to the Margate gig!

It's a great album and I've always loved the b-sides (still reckon Alex did the best Bugman remix) and it's great to hear them remastered.

Although the wrong thread, the 13 demos on Rarities 4 are great and I wonder if there are more we weren't given, no complaints here though, I just imagine a NDLTR demo would have been even more emotional, same with Tender!

Were they remastered? I was under the impression that it was just the first five albums, as well as their b-sides, that were remastered. "All We Want" may have been remastered since that was an earlier recording but I'm fairly certain that 13, Think Tank and the related b-sides are identical to their original releases. Not that that is a bad thing, I really don't think that either album needed to be remastered.

I've been comparing the track times of the bonus discs with the track times on the anniversary box set. Most of them are either same same or off by one-three seconds. No big deal, some discs have one or two seconds between tracks. However, I noticed that Graham's "Bugman" remix is approximately ten seconds longer on the anniversary box compared to the new box. I haven't done side by side comparisons yet but has anyone noticed anything missing from the version on the new box?

Wasn't there a technical fault with that disc in the 10 Yr. Boxset so that could account for random extra time...

I think that the problem you are thinking of is in "Coffee and TV." There was a skip in that track but the rest of them were fine.

Interesting that I Got Law is a Gorillaz demo for Tomorrow Comes Today, did any of the other band members contribute to this or was it just Damon?

So You is really reminiscent of another Gorillaz tune, possibly Gravity from the self titled album although the chorus is unmistakably Blur and Damon.

Good stuff! :)

I realise that I am a bad fan for not already having it but it is great to hear the "real" version of "Far Out." So much different than the Parklife version.

Well it's not remastered but I'm listening to it anyway (like I need a reason!?)

The album holds a special place in my heart...I remember the thrill first hearing Tender when it was released as a single in Jan/Feb '99 and then buying the album on a sunny spring day in March '99. I couldn't believe the change in the sonic landscape on the album relative to the previous album and I remember cranking the CD in my dorm room at uni after I got home from the record shop that day, and my friend walking in as Coffee and TV blared and he started dancing. Good times. 1999 was a good year for me, too (I met my wife later on that year).

Oh yeah, the album still kicks ass 8)

I remember being very puzzled when I first heard 13. I was a relatively new fan having just gotten interested in them sometime in 1998. The Great Escape was the first album I heard followed by Blur. I loved both of them and obviously they are quite different but it took me quite a while to warm to 13. I don't think I ever hated the album, it was more that I just didn't get it.

Having lived with it for the last (ahem) thirteen years I can say that I love it and wouldn't change a thing (well, maybe I would have made the exitludes separately tracked) but as a new fan it was definitely a challenging listen.

I remember that I didn't understand the album at first. I liked a few songs, but that was it. Then after a year or two later I finally got it and was like why the hell didn't I get it before?

Went straight to my 2nd favourite Blur album the day it was released & has remained there ever since...just on the basis of Battle & Trimm Trabb alone...and Bugman & 1992...and...well, you get the idea...

If 13 is your second favourite which one is your number one favourite?

That's taking into account the whole era as well if you like, you know, b-sides & stuff as well...

Interesting list. I'm guessing that you are a big fan of the Leisure era b-sides?
