Is there a rule about how big your signature should be? Some sigs are so big that they don't fit on my screen and it's annoying. Sorry if this has been asked or if I'm being a pain in the butt.

The guidelines say the following: Please keep to a maximum size of 450x150 for sigs and 100x100 for avatars.

A number of users have been spoken to about the sizes of their signatures recently, and people are being encoraged to downsize.

Well, big signatures are something unnecessary, and, more important for an argument it's a hassle for mobile users, but there is a new plague called annoying-big-signatures-with-annoying-animated-gifs that makes me wonder...why is it not totally banned?...for the good...

remember when my signature was HUGE? I mean, three pictures? yeah, there's a good reason I don't do that anymore

Obviously enormous signatures are a problem but it's the animated ones that irk me a bit. Sorry anyone who has one! Fine the first time, but seeing the same 3 sec clip or whatever repeat day after day gets very wearing and does nothing for the user experience on the forum to be honest.

There is no case to rest since he was using still images and not gifs at the time.

For the record, this is being discussed with the admin and we will hopefully have response for you within the next few days.

actually, there were two gifs: jacksfilms with the awful comment, and Batman eating Pinkie Pie. now it's just one gif, no other pictures.

There seems to be a growing voice against animated gifs as signatures, so please change your signature ff you have one of these.
Animated avatars, because of their smaller size, don't seem to offend as much so we'll leave those be for now.
