when I'm sad I DON'T listen to music

Postby sara-m-a » Mon Jun 11, 2012 8:40 pm

Just wondering what is your relationship whith music when beeing sad, I know a lot of people listen to sad tunes when they're sad, something I'd never do, it's like stabbing yourself

But I've noticed than when I'm being sad I for unknown reason refuse to listen to music, I just don't find any enjoyment in it, it isn't as I'm not listening to punish myself by not getting something I like, but it's more like I literally stop enjoying music while in such state, what's your experience?

I normally tend to choose music that reflects my mood. If I'm happy or nervous, I go for cheerful songs. If I'm sad, instead, I like to choose calm angsty tunes (say Caramel) and sink into the blue for a while. It's cathartic.

Another thing I've noticed is that, whereas I always sing or whistle along with the songs I'm listening to, if I don't do it is a sign that I'm too worried or sad about something :-/

I listen to sad music in general. I don't really perceive it as sad, but technically speaking it is. It helps me calm down and see stuff in perspective. Happy music usually annoys me.

When I'm sad I can listen to music, but I usually take angry music then... it gears me up to do something about it.
Unlike the Nirvana song I don't see comfort in sadness, so when I feel sad I will not listen to sad music. I want to get out of the state, not sink deeper.

I like this thread. I would say that when I'm sad or unhappy I was sitting at the table. I get the paper and write down everything that made me unhappy. Then I scrunch on the paper and throw it out the window. Then I'm not sad. Then I put it on the loud music that annoys the neighbors. Then they come to complain about. So I'm angry and throw against the flick of obscenities at them. This is, so I feel miserable, and it makes me turn off the music. I feel stupid and embarrassed. So I'm writing this on a piece of paper on the table. Then I scrunch of paper and send it to the neighbors. Then I feel good again. That's it.

back to topic... 8O i'm now worried that I AM WEIRD, most people wether listen to sad music to cry and hopefully get all the sadness out at once, or choose happy tunes to quickly change the mood, whereas I don't listen to anything.. :S maybe just maybe... what I do it's reeealy wrong and it's fucking up my mind even more...

Might consider forcing myself into some happy tunes 8O
