... what? What is there not to like about Vampire Weekend?

a-punk is annoying but i was kinda obsessed with the rest of their debut album and was thrilled to see them support blur. haven't heard contra yet though(two and a half years isn't that long a delay get off my back)

as for bands i can't get into...idk, suede? i didn't really get slowdive and tiger trap until a few months ago but they're two of my favourite bands now so it's all good. oh but heavenly still bore me to death.

Give it time, I felt the same way until my mid-teens, at which point I became obsessed with them...

I don't like his voice.

I only became curious about the band when I discovered something.

Johnny Marr sounds like ''J'en ai marre'', which is French for ''I'm fed up''. Which is a strange coincidence considering he writes some of the most depressing songs in the world. Did his parents predict this? Did he change his name? Was it inscribed on ancient stone tablets long before his birth? No one knows.

Johnny Marr writes beautiful music. Some of the most lovely jangly guitar bits ever written.

Moz writes the 'depressing' lyrics. And they're not depressing. They're just life. Wonderful things about longing and heartbreak and dear god his voice back then was just glorious. Put aside your preconceptions before you pick up the headphones, and then listen properly.

Yet again, no offense TripleJay, but did you or did you not say you can't get into the Clash based on one song alone.

How many Smiths tracks have you listened to?

I cannot say this without sounding like a complete wanker, and I know it's an "insult" used against Blur too at some point, but that band is far too student-y for me. Not in an arts student kind of way either... more economics or law.

I like M79, and have both albums, because I did really want to like them, but they come across the kind of people I'd run away from in real life.

I see what you mean. They have that whole preppy hipster style going for them, which is kinda stupid.
